The LA Galaxy have done great work this winter dotting the city with colorful billboards and staking their own claim to the region. Now the organization plans on making another statement, in enemy territory of all places.

The day before the 2019 season kicks off, the organization in tandem with former legend David Beckham and Herbalife will unveil a newly remodeled turf field just miles away from LAFC’s Banc of California Stadium. A mural commissioned by local artist Mark Paul Deren a.k.a MADSTEEZ will also be revealed.

“David’s commitment to the city of Los Angeles has been evident from the moment he arrived,” president Chris Klein echoed in a statement. “We are so proud to work with David, Herbalife Nutrition and AEG to create the beautiful new field that will impact the lives of so many in our community. Soccer has the power to transform lives and leave an immeasurable impact, and we hope this field can provide a place for the people of Los Angeles to experience the beautiful game for years to come.”

The David Beckham statue will be unveiled in a pre-game ceremony before the season opener on March 2nd.
