It’s becoming increasingly clear the duo of Guillermo Barros Schelotto and Dennis te Kloese will have a clean state to work with next season.
A number of high-priced imports brought in to plug gaps in the Galaxy roster including Favio Alvarez and Uriel Antuna are likely moving on, and now it’s been communicated that Diego Polenta’s time may be done as well. The Uruguayan center back posted a message of thanks and appreciation on social media this morning.

“I want to thank all members of LA Galaxy for the trust, the affection and the way they treated me. It was an amazing experience. I especially want to thank Guillermo and his coaching staff for believing in me and Dennis for always wanting the best for both parts. I know I will always be welcome back to the team, which is something that I really appreciate.
To my team mates, staff and fans, a big thank you! Good luck and success for the upcoming!”
It’s unclear exactly why Polenta decided to depart. Diego’s message hints at a desire to be closer to his family which the club officially confirmed, however LA recently declined his contract option for 2020.
I don't buy the official explanation. The club didn't want to pay him the $777K his contract called for last season and he didn't want to take a cut. https://t.co/uQqWOVVsqY
