While the LA Galaxy have officially announced Guillermo Barros Schelotto as the new manager this morning, unfortunately it appears the club have lost an important cog in the front office.
According to Paul Tenorio at The Athletic, the former Galaxy director of player personnel and scouting is heading to Inter Miami to join sporting director Paul McDonough and former Orlando City GM Niki Budalic as David Beckham’s expansion club continues to build in anticipation of a 2020 launch.
LA Galaxy director of personnel and scouting Kurt Schmid and former Orlando City GM Niki Budalic are joining Paul McDonough's soccer operations staff at Inter Miami, per multiple league sources. Miami now ramping up in pre-expansion year.

Widely-respected around the league for his diligent behind-the-scenes work, the departure of Schmid is a tough loss, but a reasonable one. New GM Dennis de Kloese would likely want to establish his own regime, which usually means bringing in his own people. Additionally with the tragic passing of his father Sigi Schmid who worked alongside him in LA, you could imagine Kurt wanting a fresh start in a new place.
Good luck Kurt!
