Juan José Romero is the new LA Galaxy goalkeeper coach

Another member of Guile’s staff at Boca joins LA

Another familiar face from Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s time at Boca Juniors is re-uniting with the manager in Los Angeles. This afternoon the LA Galaxy announced that GBS has decided to bring in Juan José Romero as their new goalkeeping coach.

The 39-year old spent the last two and a half years at Boca Juniors following a four year stint with the Argentine national team that ended with a heartbreaking defeat in the 2014 World Cup final. Romero replaces Ola Nikolov, who left to re-join the Union after an uneventful year at the helm.

In addition to Romero, twin brother Gustavo Barros Schelotto, Ariel Pereyra and Javier Valdecantos have also re-joined Guile’s staff which brought two Argentine league titles to La Bombonera. Now that all the coaching hires have been made, GBS can now focus on preparing the squad for a pre-season that is rapidly approaching.
