Win or make offseason plans part 2

MLS: Los Angeles Galaxy at Vancouver Whitecaps Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Morale is high among the group after the LA Galaxy pulled off a complete victory vs. the Sounders to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

Should a Galaxy side quietly brimming with confidence manage to do it again this Saturday (7 pm, Spectrum SportsNet) vs. another Cascadian rival in a Vancouver Whitecaps team who just fired their manager, LA can begin to realistically ponder a run to the playoffs.

What to watch

Dom makes the right moves. The Galaxy interim managed gave Emmanuel Boateng a rare start on the right wing, inserted Sebastian Lletget with Jonathan dos Santos in the middle of the park and partnered Dave Romney and Daniel Steres together on the backline, all to varying degrees of success.

Expect Kinnear to put out a similar lineup this weekend. Also of note: Zlatan, Rolf Feltscher, Jorgen Skjelvic and Michael Ciani are all on yellow card accumulation.

An updated look at the standings. Five Thirty Eight improved LA’s odds to 21% after the Sounders victory, which at first glance is still a daunting figure. However keep in mind Real Salt Lake and Portland have a home-and-home to round off the regular season. Three points on Saturday will go a long way towards closing the gap.

Where is Giovani dos Santos? The under fire Designated Player has not appeared for the Galaxy since a 20 minute cameo at the tail end of LA’s embarrassing defeat to RSL at the beginning of the month.

Who knows what is going on behind the scenes, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the elder dos Santos failed to see the field again for the Galaxy in 2018.

Predicted starting 11

Lineup 11
