After a few weeks Sigi Schmid’s side have moved up a single spot, with the LA Galaxy occupying 9th place in the MLS Power Rankings after a gritty defensive performance gave LA a valuable point on the road vs. an aerially dominant Whitecaps side.

LA’s draw in Vancouver wasn’t a vintage performance, but considering how shorthanded they were (they only dressed 17 players, and three were goalkeepers!) and how potent Vancouver’s attack appeared to be, a 0-0 result will work wonders for their confidence heading into the LAFC game.
Galaxy boss Sigi Schmid deserves significant credit for managing to successfully deploy a 3-5-2 formation that stifled the Vancouver’s attack despite missing key personnel all over the pitch. However the players also deserve recognition for their efforts, notably the back line: Defender Daniel Steres was named to the MLS Team of the Week, and fellow center backs Jorgen Skjelvik and Tomas Hilliard-Arce put in solid shifts as well.
