LA Galaxy to host fan events this week

Check out the Santa Monica Pier lit up in Galaxy colors, play pick-up soccer at the StubHub Center and more

LA Galaxy

After the worst season in club history, the reputation of the Galaxy organization took a bit of a shellacking. Conversely, LA have responded quite positively this off-season.

Head coach Sigi Schmid has done a masterful job rebuilding a hapless roster. After what felt like a deafening silence while newcomers LAFC did their best to sway the allegiance of Galaxy fans, the front office stepped up to the plate, presenting a successful jersey launch before unveiling a whimsical ad campaign reminding Angelenos just where modern day soccer in LA originates from.

Now in anticipation of next week’s home opener vs. the Timbers, the Galaxy are throwing a series of fan events in anticipation of Sunday’s opening kickoff vs. the Portland Timbers. (7 PT, FS1)

On Thursday, you have your choice of events: Head to Santa Monica and witness the ferris wheel lit up in Galaxy colors with Romain Alessandrini, Jona dos Santos, Cozmo and more. Or if you’re in the Orange County area, sign up for photographer Robert Mora’s free matchday photo exhibit.

Friday is the LA Galaxy block party at First Friday in Long Beach, which is also doubling as a supporter town hall with Chris Klein and Sigi Schmid. The action concludes Saturday night at the StubHub Center with 7 vs. 7 pick-up soccer.

LAG Confidential will be on hand to check out as many events as possible this week. Hope to see you there!
