Gio is frustrated.
This was evident the final 20 minutes of the Galaxy’s home loss to Vancouver, their fourth straight in league play and fifth in all competitions. Shifting from side to side, darting in-between pockets of space, blasting low percentage shots from distance, the El Tri playmaker was doing everything in his power to influence the game to little or no avail.
So it wasn’t unexpected that dos Santos had more questions than answers when speaking to ESPN FC after the match.
"This is one of the most important clubs in the league, and in any other part of the world, our situation would be managed differently," Dos Santos told ESPN Digital after the Galaxy's sixth home loss of the season.
"It's a complicated moment, as everyone can see. In the team, we're worried about this situation.
"We can't continue going on like this, and starting next game, we need to start getting points because we want to reach the playoffs."
What does Giovani dos Santos mean by that? You have to feel for Gio, a player who despite claims of complacency from some fans has proven he will fight for the shirt, attempting to explain why the Galaxy are failing without pointing the finger at anyone in particular.
One thing is for certain however: Something does needs to change.
