It’s that time of year again: EA Sports’ FIFA 17 is set to be released on Sept. 27th.
If you’re not a gamer, the FIFA franchise is what Forbes describes as “The Benchmark for Sports Games”. The top-selling sports video game in the U.S. and the No. 1 seller in the UK, the highly-anticipated launch every year is accompanied by an over-the-top commercial and lots of marketing. You can head to 7-11 right now and buy a FIFA 17 branded Big Gulp with Gyasi’s player stats.

As part of the build up, EA likes to release the player ratings soon before launch. You can check them out here.

A few observations:
-The LA Galaxy are the only team in the league with 4 gold players. That doesn’t include Gyasi Zardes, who got robbed.
-Steven Gerrard is the highest rated player, which is obviously wrong. (Landon received an inflated 86 as a designated FIFA legend)
-Van Damme picked up a 89 physical rating #Stud, only to be bested by Emmanuel Boateng’s 90 for pace.
