It appears the Colgate saga in LA is just beginning.
This morning Kristan Heneage at YahooSportUK tweeted that a deal was done, then veteran LA Times reporter Kevin Baxter followed that up with another telling tweet, revealing key details of the move.
I've been told that #LAGalaxy have signed Ashley Cole. Controversial pick-up, it continues their pursuit of experienced players. #MLS

Looks like Ashley Cole with #LAGalaxy may be done...for far less than anticipated. No TAM money, salary well below MLS max of $457,500. Hmmm

The news of Ashley Cole finalizing a deal isn't all that surprising, despite the negative reception the former Arsenal, Chelsea and Roma left back has received from Galaxy fans.
What is news however, is that LA were able to capture Cole's signature without breaking the bank. By not spending any TAM funds and keeping his salary below the DP threshold, the Galaxy now have the flexibility to pursue a few more off-season acquisitions. (And remember, LA are currently rumored to be going after Milan defensive midfielder Nigel de Jong and Aston Villa centerback Joleon Lescott)
