Giovani Dos Santos will not feature in next month's Mexico national team friendly against Senegal, Juan Carlos Osorio confirmed on Tuesday.

The current LA Galaxy forward last played for Mexico during the Gold Cup and was absent from Osorio's first call-up for World Cup qualifying back in November.

Gio, who started pre-season training with the Galaxy just this month, revealed to his national team manager that he isn't ready to return with El Tri just yet.

"He was quite sincere in expressing that he isn't at his best level," Osorio said in a press conference. "[He] doesn't believe that he will be ready for this upcoming call-up but will fight for a spot in the next one."

Mexico's match against Senegal will take place in Miami and will be El Tri's first of 2016 in another busy international calendar year that includes World Cup qualifying and Copa America Centenario.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy open their 2016 season two weeks later in a crucial CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final first leg against Santos Laguna.
