The Los Angeles Galaxy's U-18 team fell 2-1 to Real So Cal on Saturday. After holding a 1-0 lead at the half on the strength of a Christian Chavez goal (his 10th of the season), the U-18s were not able to hang on to the lead in the second half on two set pieces. The loss was the first for the U-18s since March 1.
The march to the 2013-2014 USSDA Playoffs continues with just six matches remaining for the LA Galaxy's U-18 squad. After the 2-1 loss on Saturday, the playoff position got a lot worse for the Galaxy U-18s. The seeding for the playoffs is based on points per match as not all of the teams across divisions play the same number of matches. The Galaxy U-18s are currently seeded 11th of 19 seeds with six matches left with 2.10 points per match. Although the U-18s are well above the wild card slots, seven teams above the Galaxy in the playoff table have played fewer matches.
The next match for the U-18s is Saturday, April 5 vs. Pateadores, which are currently sitting in the third wild card slot.
