Landon Donovan, Gyasi Zardes have most impact in Galaxy's win over Chivas USA

Landon Donovan led the Galaxy in Match Impact Rating for the third consecutive match but Gyasi Zardes scored the game-winning goal in his solid effort against Chivas USA on June 23.

USA TODAY Sports

Landon Donovan topped the Match Impact Ratings for the LA Galaxy for the third straight match after delivering the game-winning assist on Gyasi Zardes' goal against Chivas USA on June 23. Donovan finished the match with a MIR of 59.3, which was his second 50+ MIR in the past three outings. Zardes was second on the team in MIR on the night with a 35.2.

Donovan also drew three fouls in addition to the assist during the full 90 minutes he played. All three fouls were in the midfield area or attacking half of the field. Zardes may have outshot Chivas USA by himself with eight attempts (three on target to the Goats' one), but he only found the back of the net once, committed a foul and was caught offside once.

Robbie Rogers' progress continues. The midfielder made his second start for the Galaxy and, whether he cared or not, is still being overshadowed by the performance of Mike Magee in Chicago for some fans (especially after another game-winning goal), as Josie pointed out after the match. Rogers drew two fouls and took three off-target shots in 75 minutes on the pitch for a MIR of 23.7. Rogers did have a goal in the match but it was erased by an offside call on Robbie Keane. Had the goal stood, Rogers' MIR would have been a team-leading 66.6 for the match.

Don't look now but goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has turned in two clean sheets in two matches after being benched for poor play. The veteran is now fourth in MLS in shutouts with six on the 2013 season.
