The LA Galaxy have announced their roster for their match against the Seattle Sounders tonight, and as many were hoping it includes the first appearance in the eighteen man roster for Robbie Rogers. He's been training with the club for a month, but only time will tell if he actually steps onto the pitch.
There's a story brewing in the starting XI as well, with Gyasi Zardes getting his first MLS start. The LA Galaxy homegrown player has shown flashes of brilliance in his appearances off the bench, so we'll have to see how he manages his stamina over ninety minutes. He'll be called on for a lot more in the upcoming weeks, with Robbie Keane leaving for international duty.
Another player leaving is Omar Gonzalez, and with Todd Dunivant having trouble staying healthy this could be an issue in upcoming weeks. Greg Cochrane has shown well at times, but also proved a liability against Vancouver. With Michael Stephens in front of him, Stephens filling in for the departed Mike Magee, don't expect too much offense to come from the left side of LA.
LA Galaxy Subs: Rowe, Leonardo, Rogers, Jimenez, Garcia, Rugg, Villarreal
Jose Villarreal has won over many with his play, but he's done better as a super sub than as a starter. The eyes of many will be on Robbie Rogers, to see if this is the first time an openly gay player takes the field in a male US professional team sport.
Sounders FC XI: Gspurning; Yedlin, Traore, Hurtado, Gonzalez; Rosales (C), Carrasco, Joseph, Evans; Martins, Johnson
Sounders FC Subs: Hahnemann, Burch, Scott, Martinez, Caskey, Neagle, Estrada
