The LA Galaxy season opener, originally only to be broadcast on Univision, will now be broadcast on Time Warner Cable SportsNet in English this Sunday at 2pm. This will be the first of 22 matches broadcast on TWC SportsNet this year. SportsNet will also air the ring ceremony and banner unveiling at 1:30 as part of the Access SportsNet: Galaxy prematch show.

SportsNet announced yesterday that Cobi Jones would be returning to the broadcast booth and he'll be joined by John Shrader who has spent the last twelve years doing play by play for San Jose Earthquake matches. The Galaxy's previous play by play man Mark Rogandino is now doing Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Clippers work.

"I'm excited to call LA Galaxy games on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and looking forward to working with Galaxy legend Cobi Jones," said Shrader. "I've been broadcasting MLS games for many years, and it's great to work with a team that is coming off of back-to-back MLS Cup championships."

The Galaxy will also have a sideline reporter in Kelli Tennant.
