It's a key Western Conference matchup tonight as the LA Galaxy are all set to take on the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids are coming off back to back loses away from home, last weekend falling 1-0 at Seattle Sounders FC. Meanwhile, the Galaxy put to rest a two game losing streak, defeating the Portland Timbers 3-1 at home.
So much like last week, this is another situation where the result of the match will go a long way toward setting the tone of the early season for both clubs. In these 50/50 tossups, where neither team is a real favorite, opportunity is written all over the walls.
After disappearing for a week, the Galaxy have once again managed a 3-1 scoreline, the second one in their favor this season. If the Galaxy can win 1-0 tonight, then they'll be completely even on goals for and goals against on the year. Of course, that also means they'd have their first clean sheet of the year, something the Galaxy have sniffed once but never closed the deal on.
For the Galaxy, Franklin and Lopes are at Center Back with DeLaGarza playing right back. Beckham also finds himself right of center. For the Rapids, they're without Conor Casey, and they'll also be without Martin Rivero who is held with a tight quad. Kamani Hill starts in his spot.
