Landon Donovan is still listed as questionable on the MLS injury report, but given that Bruce Arena hardly ever uses the probable tag, Galaxy fans have gotten used to questionable players showing up on the pitch. It's looking like that likely won't be the case, as Donovan battles injury on top of injury looking to come back for the playoffs.
In the above video, Donovan talks about playing through pain. According to Adam Serrano's transcript from Friday's post practice interview (here) Donovan has been playing through a PCL tear over the last month and has basically been playing in pain since the US friendly in Mexico.
Under different circumstances, if the window of opportunity wasn't so narrow, Donovan would likely to continue to push through the pain. However, with the Galaxy having a playoff spot locked up it's better to save the captain for those playoff games.
It'll be between Edson Buddle and Jose Villarreal to replace Landon Donovan up top. The good news for Galaxy fans is that Todd Dunivant returns from his hip pointer, although Dunivant was never listed on an injury report.
