Uriel Antuna spotted in Chivas gear, officially transfers from Man City

MLS: MLS Cup Conference Semifinals-LA Galaxy at Los Angeles FC Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Uriel Antuna’s stay with the LA Galaxy will be remembered as short and sweet.

The wiry attacker was spotted wearing official Chivas apparel this morning at the Verde Valle facilities in Guadalajara, where it is believed the Mexican international was undergoing a physical before signing a contract with his new club. The acquisition will be the first of new sporting director Ricardo Peláez’s reign.

Of course, “Tuna” had a breakout 2019 both with the Galaxy and subsequently with Mexico as manager Tata Martino’s faith in MLS based players paid off. Admittedly the 22-year old was better for El Tri but Antuna grew in confidence as the season went on and ultimately racked up six goals and five assists for LA.

It’s a shame Tuna will no longer be wearing the blue white and gold, but as we argued recently the limitations of the salary cap hinder the club from putting big money down to take Antuna off Manchester City’s hands.

Update: It’s official.
