The LA Galaxy are still alive, and have been rewarded in this week’s Power Rankings as a result.
LA went into Sunday’s crucial six-pointer vs. the Sounders needing all three points to realistically keep their MLS Cup 2018 playoff hopes intact, and Dom Kinnear’s side delivered. Zlatan looked like his old self, Emmanuel Boateng’s insertion into the lineup was a breath of fresh air and the center back tandem of David Romney and Daniel Steres led the Galaxy back line to a priceless clean sheet.

Belief remains alive, as Dom Kinnear gets his team into a trademark 4-4-2 and — surprisingly for the Galaxy — implements a press in a must-win over the Sounders. The next showdown will be against another desperate side in Vancouver, but LA seem to have the momentum in their favor, for now.
If the Galaxy can manage to replicate the feat once again vs. a Vancouver Whitecaps team who just canned their manager, LA can start to think about crashing the playoff party.
