Here at the Galaxy press box, its tough to get any work done. Even normal reliable professionals are struggling to come to terms with what was the greatest match in MLS history.
Even before a ball had kicked off, the atmosphere was electric. Could the fancy new upstart de-throne the five-time MLS Cup Champions?
Twenty five minutes in, the answer was a resounding yes. Carlos Vela had scored two ridiculous goals to give LAFC a dream start in their new city. Then two-thirds through the match with Bob Bradley’s boys coasting and the LAFC supporters taunting the Galaxy, a Disney movie came to life. Four unanswered goals later, Sigi Schmid’s side had completed the comeback of all comebacks, and on Zlatan’s debut no less.
It was a match that is tough to describe, and should probably be experienced. Check out the highlights and just try to absorb what happened. We still don’t believe it.
