LA Galaxy rout Colorado Rapids 3-0

Sigi Schmid’s team win at home for just the 2nd time this season

Ok, the victory might have come vs. a hapless Rapids side. But the Galaxy will take wins any way they can get them, and on Saturday night LA put on a impressive performance, dismantling the Rapids 3-0 at the StubHub Center.

You had the feeling the Galaxy were going to look different tonight after a season of misery, and indeed within a half hour LA had scored twice. In the 18th minute Gyasi Zardes drew a penalty after being brought down by Rapids goalkeeper, and Romain Alessandrini easily converted the penalty.

Five minutes later, LA doubled the lead when Zardes won a towering header inside the box, and the ball trickled across the area to Emmanuel Boateng who smashed a low laser across the Rapids defense and into the right corner of the net.

The Galaxy sealed the match in the 56th minute when Boateng located Alessandrini racing in on the left touchline, and the Frenchman used the outside of his boot to curve a goal bound shot that the excellent Zardes re-directed home to cap a wonderful night for LA.
