Sunday afternoon marks the first of four straight matches on the road. The LA Galaxy will take on the New York Red Bulls at the Red Bull Arena.
While only managing a point against the Chicago Fire, the second half performance from the Galaxy was the best they looked all season long. Will they bring that same intensity with them on the road? Or will LA struggle to get anything going?
Goalkeeper: Rowe
Clement Diop is finally back in regular training as of Friday, but still has a way to go before we see him back in between the sticks.
With that said, Rowe has been playing well as of late and could continue to be the number one goalkeeper even when Diop returns.
Defenders: Diallo, Steres, Van Damme, Cole
Hopefully Jelle Van Damme will have learned from his poor first 30 minutes against Chicago last weekend. The first half substitution was definitely a wake up call, not only for the Captain, but the fans as well.
Will this weekend’s performance be better? We better hope so, especially as the G’s come up against a more potent offense in the Red Bulls.
Midfielders: Pedro, Husidic
With Jermaine Jones out for some time now with a knee injury, this will the be the midfield partnership. Baggio Husidic provides sufficient cover if Joao Pedro ever decides to venture further up the pitch and Husidic is as solid as it comes defensively.
Attacking Midfielders: Boateng, Dos Santos, Alessandrini
Emmanuel Boateng just brings a different set of skills to the pitch when he’s playing. Yes, he’s obviously fast, we know this. But he knows his role and sticks to it.
Boateng does more than just attack, though, as he helps with the tracking back as well.
Forward: Zardes
Gyasi Zardes will get on the score sheet sooner or later, especially after Dos Santos got one against Chicago. It’s just a matter of right time, right spot, and when it happens, the confidence will start flowing.
