After a 3-0 drubbing by the Seattle Sounders last weekend, something in the LA Galaxy’s starting XI has to change. Is it a formation thing? Personnel changes? Let’s find out in our predicted starting lineup.
Goalkeeper: Rowe
Still think you go with Brian Rowe here. Clement Diop is not 100% healthy and you should not risk him in case he re-injures his hip in the game.
Defense: Smith, Steres, Van Damme, Cole
If there’s a change anywhere in this lineup, it could come in the back line. You could see Dave Romney come in to replace either Nathan Smith or Daniel Steres, who both had sub-par performances last Sunday afternoon.
But if you want to let Smith continue to grow as a soccer player, you let him learn from his mistakes and play him against the Union tomorrow night.
Midfield: Boateng, Pedro, Jones, Alessandrini
A tactical change could see Pedro and Jones sit in front of the defense with the latter playing a little higher up the pitch.
Or the other possible switch is Baggio Husidic replacing Pedro for a more composed player.
Forwards: Dos Santos, Zardes
Again, just like we mentioned above, depending on formation changes, you could see Gyasi Zardes alone up top with either Giovani dos Santos immediately behind him. Otherwise, if it’s Curt Onalfo’s preferred 4-4-2, this will be the pairing.
Make sure to follow @LAGConfidential tomorrow night as the Galaxy host the Philadelphia Union at the StubHub Center.
