The LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders face off in the first of three regular season meetings on Sunday.
Any form of consistency would be welcomed right now for the Galaxy. After an impressive 2-0 win over the Montreal Impact, Curt Onalfo’s men suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Orlando City. The Galaxy fought hard to level the match at one goal a piece, but in the final moments of the match, Cyle Larin powered Orlando to all three points.
This isn’t by any means a decisive clash, but it is becoming painstakingly obvious that if the Galaxy don’t start putting up consecutive points, it’s going to be a long season for the five-time MLS champs.
The Seattle Sounders, of course, won the MLS Cup last season, but they aren’t doing so hot either. The champs have gone three games without a win and haven’t officially won away from home since that Western Conference Semifinal against the Colorado Rapids.
There’s always pressure when you talk about the Galaxy and the Sounders, arguably two of the biggest franchises in all of Major League Soccer. You have to trust that both of these teams will bounce back from the disappointment that has been their 2017 MLS season so far, and a positive result here would be a good start for one of these two teams.
