In an unexpected move, the LA Galaxy announced this afternoon that Edson Buddle and Dan Keat both underwent successful surgeries on their right knees and are expected to miss three to six weeks. On Monday, Buddle underwent a meniscetomy on his right knee to repair damage done to his meniscus. Keat underwent the same surgery May 31st. Both procedures were done by the team physician.
Buddle is tied for second on the club with two goals, in company with David Beckham and Landon Donovan. He has appeared in 12 of the clubs 13 matches. Keat has played in two matches for the Galaxy this season, including the full 90 in the 1-1 draw against Montreal.
Leonardo got good news Monday afternoon, having an MRI done on his right knee which showed no structural damage. Making his second reserve league appearance of the year (he also went the full 90 in the US Open Cup match against the Carolina RailHawks), he went down in the 10th minute after scoring the opening goal in the third minute.
Last Friday's injury report listed Dan Keat as out with right knee inflammation, and Edson Buddle as questionable with right knee inflammation. Leonardo will be listed as questionable with right knee inflammation in the next injury report to be published later today, but there is no immediate timetable for his return.
