As MLS All-Star Week kicks off in Los Angeles, the news everyone expected has arrived. LA Galaxy star Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez is out. The news comes Monday with an announcement from MLS.
Tajon Buchanan, Carles Gil, Carlos Vela and Chicharito are officially OUT of the All-Star Game on Wednesday.

No surprise with Gil, Vela and Chicharito with injuries. No word on why Buchanan is out. Interesting timing...
As you can see, Chicharito isn't the only player unavailable for the MLS this week. Long-term Galaxy fans shouldn't be too worried. Head Coach Greg Vanney had eluded to Chicharito’s absence as the priority became getting him healthy for the rest of the MLS regular season.
What this means for the actual All-Star game however, isn't great for the MLS. This is the first year that we are getting the MLS vs. Liga MX All-Stars match-up on a stage like this, and to have a handful of big names with extreme talent, ruled out, is a blow. This gives the advantage to Liga MX, but it also gives the Galaxy some peace of mind knowing they are doing what’s best for the player and themselves as we head into what will be a very close fight for first in the West.
