LA Galaxy reportedly go retro with new alternate jersey

If you like the ‘90s stripes, you’ll probably like this.

Footy Headlines is the go-to source for soccer jersey leaks, and since it’s after the first of the new year, it’s time for them to start dropping new MLS jerseys. They’ve done just that with the LA Galaxy’s new alternate.

Pablo Maurer of The Athletic, who appears to have inside knowledge of the new jerseys, confirms the design, which is reminiscent of a 1997 Galaxy jersey, pictured above, featuring alternating black and green stripes with yellow piping.

The jerseys have been spotted out at retail stores, too, so they appear to be out in the wild in some places.

One thing that’s really striking about this design is that it originally was a Nike jersey and Adidas have agreed to make just a few alterations to make it Adidas-ified, but otherwise keeping it pretty much how it looked in the ‘90s, down to the ring collar.

Given how late in the day we are and how these leaks tend to happen, everything seems on the up and up here. The jerseys have already been produced, we’re just waiting for the official announcement from the Galaxy and MLS. I expect this is pretty much exactly as they look.

As someone who thinks this is one of the sharpest early Galaxy jerseys, this is a great design to get back to. What do you think about the reported design?
