LA Galaxy II are back in action Sunday night, with the reserve team driving down the 5 to take on San Diego Loyal for the first time.
Los Dos got back to the games just over a week ago, as they headed to Arizona and got spanked 4-0 by Phoenix Rising FC. That was a tough match, but Los Dos showed signs of real promise in the second half, something Junior Gonzalez will hope will lead to a better performance for this one.
They’ll be taking on San Diego, an expansion team, but unlikely to be pushovers themselves. Their roster is absolutely stacked with MLS and USL experience, including former Galaxy players Raul Mendiola and Emrah Klimenta. They’re also managed by Landon Donovan, so there are some real ties between that club and the Galaxy organization.
So, will Los Dos get back to winning ways in SD, or will the upstart club deal the youngsters another blow? I think this is an intriguing match and can see it go either way. We’ll see!
