Well you can’t win ‘em all.
LA’s red-hot streak the past seven matches of six wins and a draw came to a halt in a frenzied defeat to the New York Red Bulls. In a matter similar to their cross-town rivals who were held scoreless by the Chicago Fire at Banc of California Stadium, the result isn’t necessarily a concern. The Galaxy are playing well while continuing to integrating players into the system. (And now Favio Alvarez is on the way)
That being said, you can’t lose and expect to stay on top and as a result the LA Galaxy dropped a spot in this week’s Power Rankings.

The Galaxy drop a spot after losing a topsy-turvy match at Red Bull Arena, but if they can grab six points this week they’ll move ahead of LAFC in the Supporters’ Shield race, regardless of what their El Trafico rival does. They seem to be in good shape even before they add any potential deadline-day signings.
