The revamped Leagues Cup will launch in 2023, and last week the competition announced the official group for the LA Galaxy: They will be in the “West 3” group, drawn with fellow MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps and Liga MX outfit Club León.

It appears the Galaxy will host two games, as the highest seed among the teams in the group. The top two teams in each group will advance to the Round of 32.
In a change from the previous format of the Leagues Cup, MLS will stop play altogether between July 21-Aug. 19 for the other competition, to give teams motivation to actually take the competition seriously. The top three finishers in the tournament will book places in the 2024 Concacaf Champions League, and obviously the winner will get a trophy. On paper, this sounds like a good opportunity for MLS teams to get reps against Liga MX teams and play in a short tournament, to help close the gap between the teams and help all the teams hone their skills in the general format.
News on specific fixtures will be released at a later date.
