It’s official: Sacha Klestan is back in LA.
Wednesday morning the organization announced the arrival of attacking midfielder Sacha Kljestan as a free agent. The U.S. international has enjoyed a successful career home and abroad, originally making a name for himself with Chivas USA before heading to Belgium and plying his trade at Anderlecht. Kljestan eventually returned to MLS and along with Jesse Marsch led the New York Red Bulls to two Supporter’s Shield triumphs.
“Sacha is talented veteran that will add depth and leadership to our midfield position,” LA Galaxy GM Dennis te Kloese echoed in a statement. “He is a local product that we believe will benefit us both on the field and in our locker room and we are excited to add his experience to our roster. We look forward to him joining our club.”
Though we wouldn’t describe him as an old-fashioned No. 10, the lanky 6’1” midfielder excels at distributing the ball in the final third. It will be interesting to see how Kljestan is utilized this upcoming season.
What do you think of the move?
