Shortly after official word of Guillermo Barros Schelotto joining the LA Galaxy broke, the MLS website trio of Bobby Warshaw, Calen Carr and Andrew Wiebe assembled to discuss the move.
Will Schelotto bring #LAGalaxy stability?https://t.co/Zq2NkkRMo7

Something we touched upon in our brief piece encouraging the hire that the crew mentioned is Schelotto’s ability at Boca to coax results out of a talented group of players and how that skill set pairs nicely with the Galaxy’s needs. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic up top, the 45-year old Argentine isn’t going to be tasked with orchestrating, as Bobby puts it, a “detail-oriented” approach. Schelotto just needs his squad to perform.
Another under the radar observation that could pay dividends for the organization: GBS’ excellent record of developing players. Schelotto identified Miguel Almiron and sold a number of players including Diego Valeri to MLS during his time at Lanus. Boca will eventually cash in on Cristian Pavón and Nahitan Nández, two world-class players the manager groomed into prominence, the latter of which came up from the reserves. The odds are about 100% academy star Efrain Alvarez is going to be involved this year.
