The LA Galaxy captured their first win of the season vs. Real Salt Lake but still sit at No. 13 in the MLS Power Rankings.

You’d think a road win against a conference rival would warrant a bump in the standings, but upon further reflection its a fair ranking. The Galaxy were missing half their lineup, but for a majority of the game LA were abysmal to say the least. If it weren’t for Kyle Beckerman getting kicked out right before halftime, a terrible Real Salt Lake team probably go on to win. (And Jeff Cassar probably keeps his job)
Luckily for LA, the international break is upon us. With any luck, Giovani dos Santos should recover from his hamstring tweak and Gyasi Zardes will be available for selection, not to mention Ashley Cole and the return of Jelle Van Damme from suspension.
FC Dallas are still atop the rankings, but the Portland Timbers are in their sights just waiting for a slip-up.
