LA Galaxy take another dip in Week 2 Power Rankings

Two straight home losses have taken a toll

MLS: Portland Timbers at Los Angeles Galaxy Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

The Galaxy dropped out of the Top 10 in the MLS Power Rankings, tumbling three spots to No. 13 overall while the Timbers jumped all the way to the No. 2 position just behind FC Dallas.

Of course, the social game is a reference to this controversial meme the Galaxy released yesterday that set off a firestorm on social media. Unfortunately as the Power Ranking Politburo notes with a twinge of soul-crushing reality, on the field where it counts, LA have zero points from two home matches.

And life won’t get any easier soon for the Blue White and Gold, who play their first road match when they travel to Utah to battle Real Salt Lake in a match embattled RSL head coach Jeff Cassar will be under massive pressure to get a result from.

In the meantime, the Galaxy are now below the San Jose Earthquakes, a team described as “officially not boring” this year, but LA are still above RSL.
