The LA Galaxy have a new Norwegian defender by the name of Jørgen Skjelvik.

You may have heard by now, but Skjelvik is extremely fast. He is rated in the 90s for speed on FIFA 18, and for a center back, that is very impressive.

The 26-year-old has plenty of experience at the highest of level in the soccer world. Skjelvik is a regular on the Norweigian national team and regularly plays against the best in the world.

While playing for clubs in Norway and Sweden, Skjelvik played against the best clubs throughout Europe. This means that he is a proven defender at the highest levels of the game.

He knows how to win too. In the last two years with Rosenborg in Norway, Skjelvik won back-to-back Norwegian Eliteserien’s and the 2015 Norweigian Football Cup. Hopefully Skjelvik can bring that winning mentality with him to the Galaxy.

"He's a central defender who has very good speed and is good on the ball," Schmid told LA Galaxy Insider on Thursday. "He is something that we were looking to add to our squad and also brings attributes that we were looking to improve upon. He comes to us at a very good age and I think that his best soccer is still ahead of him."

The only con that may be an issue is his ability to adapt to MLS. Sure, he is used to a similar schedule, but how is he going to adapt to conditions in Dallas or Houston in August? We know that the heat during those months can be absolutely brutal. He’ll have to be conditioned properly to withstand the hot temperatures that he isn’t quite used to.
