A week after the Galaxy and Jaime Penedo terminated his contract via mutual consent, the Panama national goalkeeper is considering retirement.
During an interview with Panamanian television station TVMax, Penedo was asked about the possibility of retiring. Penedo stated, "Yes, if things don't improve, it could be an option [retirement]."
Penedo was fundamental for LA in the past two years, helping the Galaxy conquer the 2014 MLS Cup.
In a farewell note posted on his instagram last week, Penedo listed contractual reasons as one of the causes for his departure.
Penedo echoed that statement on Tuesday, claiming MLS could only offer him single-year contracts. "That bothers me. It doesn't guarantee me stability. I parted ways with MLS due to office decisions that weren't the right fit for me," finished Penedo.
Penedo is set to announce the next step in his career in a press conference on August 15 in Panama.
