Stevie G touched down in LA over the weekend and-if you believe the posters-greatness has arrived. Of course, many would argue that greatness has been here for quite a while.
The UEFA Champions League winner will take one step closer to suiting up in a Galaxy kit when he is introduced to fans at what should be a packed StubHub Center on Saturday.
That match, against Toronto FC (7:30 PT, TWC Sports Net, TWC Deportes), falls on the 4th of July and will celebrate the arrival of an Englishman during a match against a Canadian opponent. Weird.
Gerrard will take yet another step closer to taking the field for the Galaxy on July 7th, when he will participate in his first training session with the team. Media and fans will get the chance to see just how quickly Gerrard gels with the team, particularly the Galaxy's other Summer signing from the EPL Sebastian Lletget. Lletget has had an immediate impact on the team and many will be looking forward to finding out whether or not Gerrard can have just as bright a start in Los Angeles.
After the training session, Steven Gerrard will participate in a press conference alongside Galaxy President Chris Klein, Bruce Arena, and AEG CEO Dan Beckerman.
It won't be long now before that No. 8 jersey is zipping around StubHub with the rest of a suddenly stacked LA Galaxy midfield corps.
