LA Galaxy face Whitecaps looking for week 24 sweep

The LA Galaxy aren't supposed to get reinforcements back until next week, which means the Galaxy will have to make do without the services of Robbie Rogers. Tonight against the Vancouver Whitecaps, Todd Dunivant will have to step his game up without the benefit of extra reps or training time. It's a tough ask.

Dunivant wasn't the weakest link against the Colorado Rapids, that distinction belongs to Leonado. Hopefully A.J. DeLaGarza has gotten whatever rest he needed and can return to starting tonight. Ditto goes for Juninho, whose replacement Baggio Husidic is weak link no. 3.

In Vancouver's draw against Chivas USA on Sunday they lost the services of youth Matias Laba to yellow card accumulation, and midweek they traded away Nigel Reo-Coker to Chivas USA for Mauro Rosales. Much like Colorado eventually broke as their second choice center backs were worn down, Vancouver is going to have compensate for Laba's absence without Reo-Coker as an option. That likely means Russel Teibert is stuck on the defensive mid level, limiting his ability to distribute in the attack.

Against Chivas, Vancouver dominated possession but favored long shots. If the Galaxy can control things in the midfield and get opportunities inside the penalty area this should be a ripe opportunity for picking up six points this week. The key to that is going to be defensive. They simply can't make the mistakes they made against Colorado again.

A.J. DeLaGarza on Dunivant's side to use his speed and make up for mistakes is a huge part of that. Leonardo was never going to provide Dunivant the cover he needed. Juninho returning for Baggio Husidic will also help limit the number of attacks down the left side.

From there it's up to Gyasi Zardes, Robbie Keane, and Landon Donovan to keep up their incredible run on the attack.
