With the LA Galaxy about to embark on a double match week, let's review the international duty and injury status of several principles. From call-ups for friendlies, to nebulous feelings of not good, Bruce Arena has several challenges ahead of him in putting together two eighteen man rosters over the span of five days.
International Duty
Landon Donovan
Omar Gonzalez
The good news is that Bruce Arena appears to have gotten Robbie Keane out of the non-FIFA date friendlies he was called up for. World Cup participating national teams are all in camps right now, and will have at least three warm up matches in the weeks ahead, but Ireland is just going through the motions. With the European leagues closing for the summer they had every right to put a camp together, but they should have known Keane wouldn't be free to pop in.
Injuries
Leonardo - questionable for Dallas midweek
LA's only injured player in questionable status is Leonardo, who had finger surgery and has returned to full practice. He did make the eighteen man roster for the road match in Houston, but there's a bigger question of whether Leonardo played himself out of his starting spot before he injured himself. Kofi Opare has done admirably, and Tommy Meyer shouldn't take too long getting back into the rhythm of things. Leonardo may be on the outside looking in now.
Todd Dunivant - not improving
Marcelo Sarvas - could be available for Chicago next weekend
James Riley - expected early June return
For awhile now Riley has been the one out indefinitely, but Todd Dunivant seems to be taking over that mantle. Bruce Arena has been anything but definitive about his status, but the left back doesn't seem to be doing anything that would resemble match prep. There are rumors he had surgery last week, who knows at this point. Marcelo Sarvas looks to be the earliest returner, and James Riley could follow him back into full training.
