The LA Galaxy have signed Robbie Keane to a multi-year contract extension, one first reported in November of last year. Although contract details are not given in MLS official releases, that original report had Keane on record calling it a two year contract with an option year. That original report was also of a verbal agreement, so now we know that the signature is dry.

The thirty-three year old has scored thirty-four goals and notched twenty-one assists in fifty-five MLS appearances. He's been an MLS best XI selection in both of his full seasons, and in each full season was a top three finisher for the MLS MVP award.

Internationally Keane has sixty-two goals for the Irish national team, and recently won his second Senior International Player of the Year award given by the Football Association of Ireland.

With Keane, Donovan, and Omar Gonzalez all signed to multi-year contracts, the Designated Player slots for LA are full for some time now. That's a solid core to build around.
