The LA Galaxy re-enter CONCACAF Champions League play tonight taking on Club Tijuana at the StubHub Center in Quafterfinals play. It's one of three MLS vs. Liga MX matchups this week, as the battle for North American supremacy rages on.
Tijuana are currently in 8th place in the 2014 Liga MX Clasura coming off a 2-0 victory over CD Guadalajara over the weekend. The two sides have only met in friendlies, with LA claiming a 6-2 victory and then a 2-2 neutral site draw the first time the clubs met. Despite not competing on the field, the two clubs have become local rivals with Tijuana signing up Paul Arriola from the Galaxy Academy and former Galaxy player Herculez Gomez.
"In a series like this every goal is important," said Landon Donovan. "We have to finish our chances.
Coming off the match against Real Salt Lake where the Galaxy did waste big chances, Donvan's words ring especially true. The Galaxy turn starting the series at home into an advantage, otherwise they're going into a hostile environment already having left goals on the pitch. It was the story with last season's year ending series with Real Salt Lake.
