LA Galaxy trialist James Riley confirmed to LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano today that he's put pen to paper on a contract with the club. Bruce Arena told Serrano that he planned to keep Riley around, after the defender beat out his competition to earn a new contract. Riley got extended minutes at left back in Todd Dunivant's absence, although he was brought in to provide right back depth.
Selected in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, he was left unprotected and then selected in three expansion drafts spending time with the San Jose Earthquakes, and Seattle Sounders. The Montreal Impact selected him but immediately traded him to Chivas USA. Most recently Riley played right back for DC United.
Most associated with the Seattle Sounders, the journeyman defender will likely see time right away with both MLS play and CONCACAF Champions League play starting up in March.
Jaime Penedo (broken pinky) and Stefan Ishizaki (Illness) are back in full training. Arena says Rogers starting to improve.

Ishizaki's fitness level may have suffered from his illness that limited his minutes last week. Penedo's broken pinky shouldn't have too much of an effect on him going forward. Robbie Rogers will have to catch up with the rest of the team with regards to fitness.
