While we had a pretty good sense of what the new LA Galaxy secondary kit was going to look like after it started leaking a couple weeks ago, the club confirmed the news Wednesday when they dropped the new jersey ahead of the 2021 season.
The jersey, which features black and tech green vertical stripes with yellowish piping, is an homage to a 1997 jersey worn by the club, with Adidas putting their own small design touches on this edition, including the trademark three stripes running along the shoulders.

This kit is expected to be used in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, based on the MLS jersey replacement routine, where existing clubs change one of their two kits every year. The white jersey with the silver sash and three big stripes over one shoulder will remain the club’s primary jersey again in 2021, before being replaced next year.
It appears the back of the jersey will be a flat black panel, presumably to make the name and number on the back more legible, and the club will wear black shorts and tech green socks with it.
When we wrote up the jersey leaks for this new jersey not too long ago, the readers who participated in the poll overwhelmingly approved it. I think it’s a great design and honestly, MLS doesn’t have enough teams that use vertical stripes, much less vertical stripes that include a shade of green (a personal favorite of mine). I suspect this jersey’s going to be a big hit.
