MLS announced Saturday the timeline for the start of teams’ preseason training camps, with everybody getting fully underway March 8.
For teams that aren’t participating in outside competitions to start the year, which includes the LA Galaxy, players will have to get into camp in stages. Any time between now and March 1, at the discretion of players, they can arrive early, undergo routine annual medical screens and a coronavirus quarantine period of seven days, and then participate in individual training or small group training with other cleared players. In this stretch, coaching staff or other team technical staff is prohibited from participating in the training.
Players have to report by March 1 to go through screenings and quarantine, and full team training will therefore get underway March 8.
The season will start April 17, so teams will have just under six weeks of training camp. With the Galaxy working with a new head coach, Greg Vanney, and coaching staff, this preseason will be mighty important for the club.
So get ready for the new-look G’s as they embark on what is hopefully a much improved season, and we’ll scrutinize preseason photos together and figure out the latest happenings. Coming soon!
