Los Angeles to host 2022 NWSL Draft and expansion draft in December

NWSL announced on Wednesday that Los Angeles will be the host city for both the expansion draft and 2022 NWSL Draft. With two Southern California teams, Angel City FC and San Diego NWSL, set to make their debuts in 2022, this announcement makes sense.

We were also given dates for the drafts. The Expansion Draft will be held Thursday, December 16th at 4:30pm PT. The yearly college draft, 2022 NWSL Draft, will be held a couple days later on Saturday, December 18th at 11 am PT. While Los Angeles was named as the host city, the league has yet to announce the specific venue for all of the festivities for that week.

Now, all eyes are on San Diego NWSL, who have yet to make any official announcement in regards to a club name, colors, a crest, etc. With the draft rapidly approaching, we expect news on that front to come real soon. Until then, make sure to check out the NWSL Playoffs, if nothing more than to get an early look at players that could potentially end up in Southern California next year.
