The LA Galaxy have officially freed up another roster slot, as Danish side OB have made defender Jørgen Skjelvik’s move permanent, the club announced Thursday.
Skjelvik was loaned out to OB by the Galaxy in January 2020, with the club looking to move on from the player. Mission accomplished, as Skjelvik has moved on for good and the player is getting playing time, making 19 appearances across two seasons so far for OB. They have been consistent so far, finishing in 9th place in the 12-team Danish Superliga last season and currently sitting in 9th as well.
It’s been a fascinating year for Skjelvik. In addition to moving to Denmark to play for the first time in his career and getting playing time, he also got a recall to the Norwegian National Team in the fall after coronavirus restrictions and quarantine breaches left the program casting about for players who could feature in a UEFA Nations League against Austria in a pinch. Skjelvik got the call and played the full 90 in a 1-1 draw in November.
Skjelvik’s contract with OB will run through the summer of 2023. Happy trails to him.
