When will the LA Galaxy pick in the 2021 MLS Draft?

Perhaps we’ll meet a future G on Thursday.

MLS: MLS Super Draft Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The 2021 MLS SuperDraft is scheduled for Thursday morning, which unofficially kicks off the calendar of events in the MLS year.

This year, the draft has been trimmed to three rounds, after teams routinely waived their fourth-round picks, the LA Galaxy being among the most liable to skip picks in the past.

But with a new head coach in charge, who has made use of MLS Draft picks in the past, is it the start of a new era? We’ll see.

First, where are the Galaxy scheduled to pick in the draft? While trades could happen in the lead-up or the day of, here’s where they are currently scheduled to select on Thursday:

  • 1st Round: No. 16
  • 2nd Round: No. 8 (No. 35 overall)
  • 3rd Round: No. 8 (No. 62 overall)

The Galaxy slid down the order in the 1st Round because of their trade last week with the Portland Timbers, with the teams swapping their picks and Portland sending LA defender Jorge Villafaña.

The 1st Round of the draft is scheduled to be streamed on MLSsoccer.com and the MLS app Thursday at 11 am PT. We’ll keep you posted on what goes down for the Galaxy.
