Julian Araujo earned the start at right back in place of the suspended Rolf Feltscher.
The LA Galaxy struggled at first to break through Montreal’s shape: Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s side were not particularly dangerous in the final third while the Impact had several decent opportunities on the counter. The breakthrough for LA would come in the 31st minute when a Jona dos Santos shot inside the box ricocheted off Uriel Antuna and fell to the big Swede for an easy finish past Evan Bush.

LA were far from convincing though, and early in the second period the Impact equalized. Lassi Lappalainen beat the offside trap and did well to cushion a redirected header past David Bingham.
The goal did nothing to deter the Galaxy’s spirit: Minutes later a fortunate bounce presented Antuna with a chance from close-range and the Mexican international buried a low shot as LA led once again.
