Like a mountaineer cheerfully yodeling during his ascent, the LA Galaxy continue to climb up the league power rankings.
Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s squad have earned 12 out of a possible 15 points from five matches despite less than ideal circumstances. There’s been injuries. New signings are still acclimating. More are on the way.
Yes the Galaxy cross the ball way too much, but an overlooked caveat of LA’s over reliance on aerial ability is one of circumstance. The Schelotto twins are still in the early stages of implementing their attacking philosophy.
All things considered, the Galaxy are in a favorable spot. It would be nice for the attack to produce silky smooth football at the moment, but you don’t win MLS Cup by peaking early. It may take a few months for the offense to really get into gear, if not more. Crucially, LA are picking up points now.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto was successful in Argentina and South America with Boca Juniors, but he was not known for a particular style. That may be a feature, not a bug, as his Galaxy side looks similar, winning games but not always looking especially good while they do it.
