Jona dos Santos named to Audi MLS Team of the Week

Another week of mesmerizing brilliance for Jonathan dos Santos.

Though most of the attention has been focused on the goalscoring antics of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the LA Galaxy defensive midfielder has arguably been the best player of the 2019 campaign. Terrorizing opponents with his terrier-like ability to win the ball in the midfield, dos Santos’ measured possession and silky smooth passing has been invaluable for both club and country.

Impressively, dos Santos has also displayed leadership when necessary. As Jona explained after LA drew Minnesota at Allianz Arena, the El Tri regular woke up with a pinched nerve that restricted his movement and caused him great pain but decided to carry on anyway.

After a pair of standout performances vs. the Loons and Real Salt Lake, it is no surprise dos Santos was named to the MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi. Diedie Traore was also named to the bench following the 20-year old’s head-turning debut at left back.
